The objective of this work is to develop an element technology to recover the plane stress response without any plane stress specific modifications in the large strain regime. Therefore, the essential feature of the proposed element formulation is an interface to arbitrary three‐dimensional constitutive laws. The easily implemented and computational cheap four‐noded element is characterized by coarse mesh accuracy and the satisfaction of the plane stress constraint in a weak sense. A number of example problems involving arbitrary small and large strain constitutive models demonstrate the excellent performance of the concept pursued in this work.

The purpose of this paper is to show that, until the 1960s, subsistence hunting, fishing, and gathering were the mainstay of the economy for Inuit in the Eastern Canadian Arctic. This economy was sustained by the moral imperative that food should be shared with others whenever possible. The article explores the experience of one man in Nunavik (Northern Québec) who has started a business selling food.

The paper shows that regulatory challenges facing the industry are considered in relation to the moral dilemmas that need to be confronted in moving from an economy based on sharing food to an economy predicated on market exchange.

The paper concludes with a discussion about how this businessman has come to terms with his breaking of social norms about the sharing of food and his understanding of how, in doing so, he is representative of a new economic order amongst Inuit in Nunavik.

The paper shows that this is an original and novel subject for study.

In this paper the authors aim to review the state-of-the-art literature on online review systems and their impacts on consumer behavior and retailers' performance with the aim of identifying research gaps related to different design features of review systems and developing future research agenda.

The authors conducted a systematic review based on PRISMA 2020 protocol, focusing on studies published in the domains of retailing and marketing. This procedure resulted in 48 selected papers investigating the design features of retailer online review systems.

The authors identify eight design features that are controllable by retailers in an online review system. The design features have been researched independently in previous literature, with some features receiving more attention. Most selected studies focus on the design features adapted metrics and review presentations, while other features are generally neglected (e.g. rating dimensions). Previous literature argues that design features affect consumer behaviors and retailers' performance. However, the interactions among the features are still neglected in the literature, creating a relevant gap for future research.

This paper distinguishes between different types of retailer online review systems based on how they are implemented. The authors summarize the state-of-the-art of relevant literature on design features of online review systems and their effects on consumer- and retailer-related outcome variables. This systematic literature review distinguishes between online reviews provided on websites controlled by retailers (internal systems) and third-party websites (external systems).

Integration is a complex, contested and multidimensional concept. This paper aims to examine the impact of small voluntary agencies (SVA) in the integration of refugees into social, economic and citizenship structures in the UK.

This study is rooted in in-depth interviews with 20 participants and a case study (ethnography research) that focuses on a refugee-assisting organisation in Southeast England.

The findings reveal cases of exemplary leadership in actions and social solidarity exhibited by SVA through innovative actions aimed at helping individuals and communities which may be particularly disadvantaged. It revealed the mixed embeddedness that these agencies create that enable refugees to pursue a new life, employment and citizenship.

One of the limitations of the study is the focus on one case study. However, this provided an opportunity to conduct in-depth interviews and examination of the research objectives.

Ecosystem-based approaches to human health, also known as Ecohealth approaches, fall in an emerging field of study that focuses on understanding how social, political and economic factors shape people–environment interactions and consequently influence human health. The approach integrates scientific and local perspectives to develop interventions aimed at improving human health through sustainable ecosystem management.

Three principles are central to traditional ecohealth approaches: (1) transdisciplinarity which integrates the expertise of professionals from the natural, health and social sciences with those of other stakeholders; (2) community participation; and (3) social equity and gender relations.

However, the extent to which these concepts benefit from rigorous theoretical analysis is still very limited. As an emerging field of study, the use of poststructuralist, feminist, postcolonial, and political ecology perspectives is still limited. This chapter illustrates the application of critical theory to the conceptual and methodological tools used in ecohealth research and practice.

Critical theory is used to examine people–environment interactions, transdisciplinarity, community participation, and social equity and gender relations. The discussion is informed by an ecohealth project conducted in the Upper West region of Ghana.

As an emerging field of study, ecohealth is yet to benefit from rigorous critical theoretical frameworks that are used to examine health and environment issues in other subdisciplines. This chapter illustrates the application of these perspectives to ecohealth.

Explores two theoretical constructs evident in the exporting area of the international marketing literature: export stimuli and export barriers. Takes account of the manner in which these explanatory variables can predict export behaviour among small and medium‐sized firms. Discussion centres primarily on the tenet that a significant degree of dormant export potential tends to lie at the pre‐export phase of export development; that is, encouraging non‐exporters to become exporters is perhaps a more fertile area of interest for government than attempting to increase the export activity of marginal exporters. Uses classificatory schemas as a basis for conceptualizing export stimuli and export barriers for non‐exporters, so as to provide a platform to establish the ingredients of these constructs. Conducts an evaluation of the advances in empirical research regarding export stimuli and export barriers in the form of a critique.

Jürgen Habermas is one of the most important authors in contemporary philosophy. In this chapter, we analyse his contribution to the philosophical debate on universalism and relativism and consider its implications for organization studies and organizations operating in an intercultural environment. We briefly describe the critique of a universal concept of reason that has been forwarded by sceptical and postmodern philosophers. As a response to this critique, we outline the contribution of discourse ethics and analyse the theories of Jürgen Habermas and his colleague Karl-Otto Apel. We explore the justification of discourse ethics and point out some problems in its argumentative logic. In the light of this critique, we outline some characteristics of an intercultural ethics that is based on constructivist philosophy and point to some encouraging prospects on the consolidation of the debate between relativistic and universalistic philosophers.
